What we repair on a driveshaft
A driveshaft is a simple part with a few wear points. We service all of them:
- U-joint replacement — the #1 repair. Worn universal joints cause clunking, squeaking and vibration. We press in new Spicer or Neapco joints (1310, 1330, 1350, 1410, 1480, 1550 and heavy-duty series).
- Slip yoke and weld yoke replacement — worn splines or damaged yokes on the transmission side.
- Center support bearing (carrier bearing) — the rubber-mounted bearing on two-piece driveshafts (vans, long-bed trucks, Sprinter, Express, F-350).
- Tube replacement (retubing) — for bent, dented or rusted tubes we weld a new steel or aluminum tube to your yokes.
- Flange yokes, CV / double-cardan heads — including constant-velocity center ball repair kits.
- High-RPM dynamic balancing — included with every repair so the shaft goes back vibration-free.
Signs your driveshaft needs repair
If you notice any of these, the driveshaft is the first thing to check:
- Vibration that gets worse as you speed up (not when braking)
- A clunk when you shift into Drive or Reverse, or on/off the throttle
- Squeaking or chirping that follows vehicle speed — a dry U-joint
- Shudder on takeoff (often a worn center support bearing on 2-piece shafts)
- Rust-colored dust around the U-joint caps, or visible play when you grab the shaft
Read the full driveshaft vibration guide to narrow it down before you bring it in.

Frequently asked questions
How long does driveshaft repair take?
Most U-joint replacements, center bearing jobs and balancing are completed the same day you drop the shaft off. Retubing and custom builds take 1–3 business days.
Do I have to bring the whole vehicle?
No — and we don't work on vehicles. Bring only the driveshaft, removed. If you're not comfortable removing it, any mechanic can do it in under an hour; we then repair the part and you reinstall it.
Can you repair a driveshaft instead of replacing it?
Usually yes. U-joints, yokes, center bearings and tubes can all be replaced individually. We only recommend a complete new driveshaft when the tube is bent beyond straightening or the yokes are cracked.
Do you balance the driveshaft after the repair?
Always. Every repaired shaft is phased and dynamically balanced at high RPM before it leaves the shop — that's what prevents the vibration from coming back.
Is there a warranty on the repair?
Yes, parts and labor on every repair and every driveshaft we build.
Do you repair two-piece driveshafts and vans?
Yes. Two-piece shafts with a center support bearing (Sprinter, Express, Econoline, long-bed trucks) are a daily job for us.
Can I ship my driveshaft to you?
Yes. Customers ship driveshafts to us from all over Florida and the Southeast. Call first so we can give you the quote and packing instructions.
