When you need a custom driveshaft
- Lifted or lowered trucks and Jeeps — the factory shaft is too short or the angle is wrong; a longer shaft or a CV (double-cardan) shaft fixes the vibration.
- Engine, transmission or transfer case swaps — LS swaps, 4L80E / 6L80 / 10R80 conversions, NP241 / Atlas transfer cases, Dana 60 rear ends.
- Race and high-horsepower builds — 1350 or 1410 series, 3.5" or 4" aluminum, built for 600+ HP and high RPM.
- Factory shaft no longer available — classic trucks, imports, commercial chassis and equipment where OEM parts are discontinued.
- Two-piece to one-piece conversions — eliminating the center support bearing on trucks and vans.
- Marine, agricultural and industrial — boats, generators, pumps, tractors and PTO-driven machinery.
Steel or aluminum? Which series?
| Steel | Aluminum (6061-T6) | |
|---|---|---|
| Best for | Heavy towing, commercial duty, best value | Lighter weight, no rust, smoother at speed, long shafts |
| Typical use | Work trucks, fleets, diesel pickups | Half-ton trucks, SUVs, Jeeps, performance cars |
| Price | from $549 | from $699 |
| Series we build | 1310 to 1550 and HD | 1350 · 1410 · 1480 · 1550 (3.5", 4", 5" tube) |
Series is chosen by vehicle weight and torque: 1310/1330 for cars and light trucks, 1350 for half-ton trucks, SUVs and Jeeps (the most common upgrade), 1410 for 3/4-ton and towing, 1480/1550 for 1-ton, diesel and medium-duty. The vehicle finder recommends the series for your year, make and model.
What we need from you
Three measurements, taken with the vehicle's weight on the suspension: A — center of front U-joint to center of rear U-joint; B — transmission seal to center of rear U-joint; and the spline count / yoke type on the transmission side (GM 27/32, Ford 28/31, Mopar 30) and the flange or pinion yoke on the axle side. Or simply bring us the old shaft — we take every measurement off it in minutes. The finder page has a diagram and a step-by-step quote form.
What's included in every custom driveshaft
- New steel or 6061-T6 aluminum tube cut to your length
- 2 new Spicer / Neapco U-joints (greaseable or sealed)
- New slip yoke or weld yoke to match your transmission splines
- Flange or pinion yoke on the axle side as required

Frequently asked questions
How long does a custom driveshaft take?
1–3 business days for most builds once we have measurements or the old shaft. Rush builds are often possible — ask.
How much does a custom driveshaft cost in Miami?
Steel driveshafts start at $549 and aluminum at $699 for cars and half-ton trucks; 3/4-ton, 1-ton and two-piece van shafts cost more because of larger joints and tubes. The exact price is confirmed before we build.
Do you build CV / double-cardan driveshafts for lifted trucks?
Yes. For lifts over about 3 inches, a double-cardan (CV) shaft or a slip-yoke-eliminator setup is usually the right fix for vibration, and we build both.
Can I just buy the parts and build it myself?
Yes — we sell complete aluminum driveshaft kits (tube + weld yokes) in 1350, 1410, 1480 and 1550 series in our parts store, and we can cut, weld and balance for you if you prefer.
Do you install the driveshaft on my vehicle?
No. We fabricate and balance the shaft; you or your mechanic install it. We're happy to explain pinion angle and bolt torque when you pick it up.
Do you ship custom driveshafts?
Yes, anywhere in the US. Local customers in Miami-Dade and Broward usually pick up in Medley.
